Ingredients:
1. 200g GreenMoong Dal (with skin)
2. 400ml Water(for soaking)
3. Ginger(as pertaste)
4. Green Chilies(as per taste)
5. Garlic (as pertaste)
6. A pinch ofAsafoetida (Hing)
7. 1 tsp CuminSeeds (Jeera)
8. 1 tbsp Oil
9. 1 tsp MustardSeeds (Rai)
10. 1 tsp SesameSeeds (Til)
11. ShreddedCoconut (for garnish)
12. Green Chutney(for serving)
Instructions:
1. Soak the Dal: Soak the green moong dal in 400ml of water forabout 2 hours.
2. Prepare the Batter: Grind the soaked moong dal in a mixer.While grinding, add Ginger green chilies, and garlic according to your taste.Once ground, mix in a pinch of asafoetida and cumin seeds to the batter. Yourbatter, or "khiru," is now ready.
3. Steam theDhokla: Pour the batter into a greased steaming tray and steam it until fullycooked. You can check by inserting a toothpick—it should come out clean.
4. Cut andTemper: Once cooked, let the dhokla cool slightly, then cut it into pieces ofyour desired size.
5. Prepare the Tempering: In a small pan, heat the oil. Once hot,add mustard seeds and sesame seeds. Let them crackle, then pour this temperingover the cut dhokla pieces.
6. Garnish andServe: Finally, sprinkle shredded coconut on top of the tempered dhokla. Serveit hot with green chutney.
