Please find below the highlights of Interim Budget 2009 - 2010
  • Aam Aadmi  is the main focus of development process.
  • GDP records sustained growth of over 9 % for 3 consecutive years. With per Capita Income growing @ 7.4% pa.
  • Fiscal Deficit  came down from 4.5% in 2003-04 to 2.7 % in 2007-08.
  • Revenue Deficit came down from 3.6% to 1.1%.
  • Investment and Savings recorded significant improvement.
  • Exports showed growth at an annual average growth rate of 26.4% in US Dollars in 2008-2009
  • Foreign Trade records an increase from 23.07% of GDP in 2003-.2004 to 35.5% in 2007-2008
  • Encouragement of Private Investment in infrastructure sectors through Public Private Partnership
  • Employment Generation Schemes expanded and Social Security nets strengthened
  • The Credit Disbursements to Agriculture up 300 % – touch Rs. 2.5 lac Crore in 2007-08
  • Provide interest subvention in 2009-2010 for farmers to avail Short Term Crop Loans upto 3.00 lacs @7% p.a
  • Rs. 65,300 Crore Debt Waiver and relief given to 3.6 Crore farmers
  • Rural Infrastructure Development Fund ( RIDF) Corpus increased to Rs. 14,000 crore in 2008-09
  • 60.12 lakh houses for weaker sections constructed under Indira Awaas Yojana
  • Panchayat Empowerment and Accountability Scheme ( PEAIS) to be substantially expanded
  • The Department of Posts launched "Project Arrow" for revitalization of core operations and provides new technology enabled service to the common man
  • 15 Central Universities established, 6 new IIT’s start functioning
  • The Educational Loan Accounts rose to 14.09 lacs in 2008-2009
  • Two new schemes-Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension and Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Schemes to be launched
