The President Speaks to you
Dear Members,
You will be pleased to note that the new Sub-Committees
have now been constituted under the chairmanship
of experienced stalwarts from the Industry, and
I am sure members will interact with the Sub-Committees
from time to time, to air their views and fulfill
their expectations. I would also urge members to
contribute some part of their time to the activities
of the Association, since such participation will
help in achieving the various broad objectives we
have set for ourselves, to remain a pro-active Association.
The Seminar Sub-Committee will soon be finalizing
the details of calendar of events for the coming
year, and if there are any specific events you think
would interest the members at large, we would be
happy to stage such events.
One of the vexed issues being faced by Hotel &
Restaurants, is the maximum retail price issue
in respect of packaged commodities, especially mineral
water and soft drinks. The matter has since been
settled with the ad-interim stay granted by Delhi
High Court, as per details published in this issue.
The Association is placing before the Union as well
as the State Governments, its pre-budget memorandum
in order to achieve sustainable growth. It will
endeavour to secure the attention of the Hon'ble
Finance Ministers, both Union
& State, to initiate fiscal measures that would
give a direction to tourism, which has been acknowledged
as an engine of growth across
the world.
Your Association is also planning to submit
a proposal for development of specific hill stations,
including getting them declared as tourist destinations
under the Union Government's scheme. The Hill Resorts
Sub-Committee is finalizing the proposal, in consultation
with
the experts.
